Welcome To the Virtual professor

Changing Society One Class At A Time

Injustice abounds for many in our country - particularly for persons of color, persons within the lower income bracket, persons with criminal histories, and other marginalized groups. Change is possible when people are informed, motivated to act, and provided strategies to move forward. If we want something different, we must do something different, and we must be something different.

The Virtual Professor will post video mini-classes/lectures designed to educate subscribers about the US criminal justice system, discuss current social justice issues, and explore relevant strategies and call to actions. We don’t have to accept things as they are. We can make them different. Be a part of this movement!

Reviews

I have had the privilege of working in Criminal Justice with Maxine L. Bryant for almost 20 years, she has been a consummate professional with a deep passion for serving justice involved individuals. Maxine is the professional’s professional, educating superiors, peers and subordinates by presenting and facilitating workshops and seminars that are relevant, challenging, thought provoking and inspiring and life changing. Maxine, while utilizing best practices challenges those within her sphere of influence to think deeper, work harder and serve with compassion, while maintain the rules of law. Maxine is the epitome of a Servant Leader as she leads, directs and motivates with an expectation of excellence.

Dr. Maxine Bryant has been living out her passion in this re-entry space for as long as I’ve known her. In 2009, when I moved to Indianapolis, Dr. Bryant hosted a re-entry conference that was ahead of its time. Her vision served to position that community to become a healing place with opportunities for growth for individuals transitioning from prison to community. She has been and still is a jewel.

When I think about reintegration there is no greater advocate for Returning Citizens in the State of Georgia than Dr. Maxine Bryant. Dr. Bryant has served as a reintegration ambassador for decades and since my first meeting her in 2015, I have witnessed firsthand her passion and expertise. Dr. Bryant is the epitome of prison to community reintegration efforts. She has spent her entire career trying to eradicate interconnected challenges contributing to the cycle of recidivism. Since I have known Dr. Bryant, she has championed the cause of policy reform as it relates to returning citizens. I have witnessed and had the pleasure of working with Dr. Bryant on reintegration initiatives on a Micro (livelihood), Mezzo (family, love walks), and Macro (GVI, Mayors Office) Levels. Dr. Bryant lives by the mantra that “We Must Do Something” and employs grassroots efforts such as her “When is the Debt Paid Conference” to bring local, and national spotlight to Returning Citizens and their right to experience normalcy in the community as productive citizens. Thank you, Dr. Bryant, for all the work that you do for Returning Citizens.

During the two years that I worked with her office, Dr. Bryant (whom I affectionately call Mighty Max) showed that she has the tenacity and a genuine desire to help those that are being underserved in our communities. Her commitment to community projects is wholehearted, even in the face of a personal tragedy. When Dr. Bryant experienced the loss of a daughter, very few people knew what she was going through because her focus and her aim was to bring comfort and opportunity to those who needed her help the most. Dr. Bryant is a true friend to those who are struggling to find their place in society after incarceration. Her compassion and the ability to understand and empathize with people who are hurting and to bring them some measure of hope and direction is what makes her so effective in the work that she does. What truly makes Dr. Bryant amazing is her Faith! Anyone who spends any amount of time in her presence can feel that spiritual aura that surrounds her. It is that aura that touches people and moves them in a positive direction. Dr. Bryant is one of the best weapons God has created to help spread Hope and Love. I am proud to call her my Friend!
