WHAT’S REALLY GOING ON IN JAILS AND PRISONS RIGHT NOW!?
As citizens of the US, we are being bombarded with safety precautions designed to protect us from becoming infected with COVID-19. We are told that in addition to extreme hand washing and sanitizing items, maintaining social or physical distance is the best way to slow down the spread of the virus. So, we stay 6 ft. apart, we wear masks and gloves, and we in-home shelter. But, what about incarcerated persons?
They are either in dorms with 50+ others in close proximity or in small cells with 1-3 others. They have no masks and they wear no gloves and they certainly don’t have the luxury of staying 6 ft away from other inmates. As would be expected, this coronavirus is ravaging our prisons and jails. Mainstream media doesn’t cover these stories.
As more prisoners are becoming sick, many jails and prisoners are releasing persons convicted of low level, non-violent crimes. On one hand that’s good. On another hand, I have a question – are they testing them prior to release? Are they releasing persons who may be unknowingly infected into communities where they will unwittingly infect others? Who’s asking these questions and what are the answers?
Just something that makes me say, hmm.
